Overview
Based on the PSA DW10 diesel engine, the post-2005 2.0 Duratorq TDCi diesel engine was developed by Peugeot engineers in France on behalf of PSA and Ford Motor Company. AustralianCar.Reviews understands that the 2.0 Duratorq TDCi engine was manufactured at Volvo’s Skovde plant in Sweden for Ford and Volvo vehicles, and in France for Peugeot vehicles. For Volvo vehicles, this engine was designated by the code D4204T (without a seventh character).
Key attributes of the 2005 2.0 Duratorq TDCi diesel engine included its:
- Cast iron block with 85.0 mm bores and 88.0 mm stroke for a capacity of 1997 cc;
- Aluminium alloy cylinder head with double overhead camshafts. The inlet camshaft was driven by a cambelt, while the exhaust camshaft was driven via a timing chain from the inlet camshaft;
- Four valves per cylinder;
- Variable geometry turbocharger with overboost function;
- Third-generation common-rail injection system;
- Piezo-electric injectors, each with seven apertures and capable of delivering six injections per cycle;
- Compression ratio of 18.5:1;
- Electronic throttle control;
- Siemens engine management system;
- Diesel particulate filter (DPF); and,
- Dual mass flywheel.
Furthermore, the 2.0 Duratorq TDCi engine was 860 mm high, 680 mm long, 630 mm wide; it weighed 190 kg.
