Released in April 2005, the Mercedes-Benz C219 CLS-Class was a four-seat sedan with coupe-like proportions. Manufactured in Sindelfingen, Germany, the rear-wheel drive CLS range initially consisted of the CLS 500, with the CLS 350 following in July and August 2005, respectively. Released in May 2008, the Mercedes-Benz C219 Series II (C219.II) CLS range introduced minor cosmetic changes and improved standard equipment levels. The C219.II CLS 350 and CLS 500 could be identified by their two-louvre diamond-shaped grilles, trapezoidal exhaust outlets and 18-inch light-alloy wheels. Furthermore, all CLS models featured larger wing mirrors with arrow-shaped LED indicators, deeper rear bumpers and LED tail-lights. Inside, there was a redesigned three-spoke leather steering wheel and a new instrument cluster.
