Recalls: Chery T1X J11
Overview
Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.
Recalls: Chery T1X J11
- In September 2011, a recall was issued for Chery J11 vehicles since they may not perform to the manufacturer’s specifications in the event of a side impact, providing inadequate occupant protection. For the VINs of the recakked vehicles, please seePRA 2011/12829.
- In August 2012, a recall was issued for Chery J11 vehicles due to the engine intake manifold gasket and two exhaust gaskets (part numbers 481FB-1008028 and B11-1205311, respectively) containing a small amount of bonded asbestos fibre. The gaskets were to remain in the vehicle until normal in-service replacement was necessary, although customers could request that the components be replaced. - ‘There is no asbestos-related health risk to the driver or any passengers who use the vehicle. The gaskets are tightly embedded in the vehicle and present no hazard during normal operation of the vehicle.’
- In December 2015, a recall was issued for Chery J11 vehicles that were manufactured from 2009 to 2010. In these vehicles, the fuel pump bracing case could potentially crack and cause a fuel leak that posed a potential fire hazard.
