Problems and faults: Ford Mustang

  • In wet weather, the serpentine accessory drive belt was susceptible to coming loose – a revised tensioner and water pump pulley were subsequently released.
  • The intake manifold was prone to breaking, resulting in coolant loss and possible overheating.
  • Spark plug hole threads – within the cylinder heads are easily damaged – or stripped when the plugs are removed due to carbon build-up.
  • The clutch pedal may vibrate, though this is not indicative of an engine or transmission problem.
