Recalls: Foton Tunland cab chassis

Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Recalls: Foton Tunland cab chassis

  • In May 2014, a recall was issued for Foton Tunland utilities because vehicle jacks that were supplied did not comply with the mandatory standard for vehicle jacks (Australian/New Zealand Standard: AS/NZS 2693). Incorrect use of the jacks could create a crushing hazard. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2014/14333.
  • In June 2014, a recall was issued for all Foton Tunland vehicles that were distributed by Foton Automotive Australia. Since the Tunland had not been certified to ADR 34/01 or ADR 34/02, it was not possible to fit a child restraint to the rear seat of the vehicle using a top tether or ISOFIX latching points. As such, the ISOFIX identification labels on the outboard rear seats should not have been fitted. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2014/14152.
  • In May 2015, a recall was issued for Foton Tunland cab chassis vehicles because they were supplied with vehicle jacks that did not comply with the mandatory safety standard for vehicle jacks, AS/NZS 2693:2007. As such, there was a risk that consumers may use the jacks incorrectly, creating a crushing hazard. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2015/14696.
  • In July 2015, a recall was issued for Foton Tunland vehicles that were available for sale from 1 January 2011 to 1 December 2013. In these vehicles, the wiring in the plug for the seatbelt pretensioners may have been incorrectly crimped – this could cause the ‘SRS’ warning light to illuminate and a diagnostic code to become active in the SRS system. If this defect was not rectified, the driver may not be alerted to other warnings. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2015/14836.
  • In November 2015, a recall was issued for Foton Tunland cab chassis vehicles because they may have been supplied with a vehicle jack that, due to incorrect labelling, did not comply with the mandatory standard (AS/NZS 2693:2007). As a result, consumers may use the jack incorrectly, thereby posing a safety risk. For the VINs of the recalled Foton Tunland vehicles, please see PRA 2015/15022.
