Recalls: Hyundai LF Sonata

Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. 2014-15 Hyundai LF Sonata: braking may not perform as intended

In September 2015, a recall was issued for Hyundai LF Sonata vehicles that were produced from 10 July 2014 to 30 May 2015. In these vehicles, the brake tubing or seal ring on the brake booster system may have been incorrectly fitted – this could increase the risk of the vehicle’s braking not performing as intended when the electronic stability control (ESC) system was activated, increasing the risk of an accident for the driver and other road users. The recalled LF Sonata vehicles had VINs in the range KMHE341BMFA045604 to KMHE241FMFA142833 (PRA 2015/14889).

2014-15 Hyundai LF Sonata with sunroof: wind deflector plate could detach

In February 2017, a recall was issued for Hyundai LF Sonata vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 10 July 2014 to 13 August 2015. In these vehicles, the wind deflector plate for the panoramic sunroof may not have been secured correctly during assembly and could therefore detach while the vehicle was in motion. If this occurred,

  • The deflector plate may detach from the vehicle and become an obstacle to other road users; or,
  • The deflector plate may interfere with the sunroof and cause the glass to shatter.

The recalled Hyundai LF Sonata vehicles had VINs in the range KMHE341*BFA017122 to KMHE341*BFA163661 (PRA 2017/15916).
