2018 Isuzu D-Max Crew Cab: rear leaf spring could fracture

In April 2019, recall campaign S201910 was issued for Isuzu D-Max Crew Cab vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 27 January 2018 to 16 October 2018. For vehicles that had three leaf rear suspension, the rear leaf spring could fracture due to the front eye being of insufficient diameter. If the rear leaf spring fractured, the parking brake cable may be unintentionally applied due to the rear axle being unsupported on the failed side – this could cause a collision. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17434.

2018-20 Isuzu D-Max Crew Cab: rear leaf spring may fracture

In March 2020, recall campaign S202005 was issued for Isuzu D-Max Crew Cab vehicles that were available for sale from 27 January 2018 to 28 February 2020. In these vehicles, the rear leaf spring may fracture due to an insufficient diameter for the front eye. If one of the springs broke, the driver may not have full control of the vehicle – this increased the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2020/18230.

2020 Isuzu RC D-Max Crew Cab: rear seatbelt pretensioner

In December 2020, recall campaign S202042 was issued for Isuzu D-Max Crew Cab vehicles built between 22 June 2020 and 16 August 2020. In these vehicles, the rear seatbelt pretensioner locking tab may be defective such that it would not tension properly. If the pretensioner wiring harness connector locked incorrectly, it may not fully tension the seatbelt in the event of a collision – this could increase the risk of injury. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2020/18668.

Isuzu RC D-Max: suspension squeak/noise

There have been reports of high-pitched, squeaking noises from the Isuzu RC D-Max’s suspension. While some dealers attempted to fix this by lubricating the bushes, the problem was that the angle of the shock absorber pin caused it to rub against and wear through the original bush. The pin would then contact the metalwork, causing the squeaking noise. Revised shock absorber pins and bushes were subsequently introduced and could be fitted to replace the original bushes.
