Overview

Released in Australia in September 1997, the Aston Martin V8 was available as a two-door coupe or convertible (Volante) with ‘2+2’ seating. The V8 was based on the 1989 Aston Martin Virage and was powered by a 5.3-litre V8 petrol engine that was mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

The Aston Martin V8 was 4745 mm long, 1918 mm wide, 1320 mm tall and had a 2611 mm long wheelbase; kerb weight was 1950 kg. Furthermore, the V8 had double wishbone front suspension and a De Dion rear axle suspension located by longitudinal radius arms and transverse watts linkages.

Standard features for the Aston Martin V8 included 17-inch alloy wheels, a four speaker sound system with a CD player, climate control air conditioning, power adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, cruise control, front fog lights, leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote central locking, power windows, power mirrors and an alarm. Volante models were further equipped with a power-operated soft-top roof.

The V8 was also fitted with a limited-slip rear differential.
