Review: Daihatsu M201 YRV (2001-04)
Overview
Released in July 2001, the Daihatsu M201 YRV was a light, five-door wagon. Manufactured in Japan, the front-wheel drive YRV (short for ‘Young Recreational Vehicle’) was powered by a 1.3-litre K3-VE petrol engine which had double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, ‘dynamic variable valve timing’ (DVVT) and a compression ratio of 10.0:1. Transmission options consisted of five-speed manual and four-speed automatic units.
The Daihatsu YRV was 3765 mm long, 1620 mm wide, 1550 mm tall and had a 2355 mm long wheelbase. Inside, the YRV had tiered seating and the rear seats could slide by up to 150 mm to increase either leg room or boot space. The YRV had MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear axle.
