Review: Honda KA7/KA8 Legend (1991-96)

Overview

Released in March 1991, the Honda KA7 and KA8 Legend were front-wheel drive coupes and sedans, respectively. Manufactured in Saitama, Japan, the KA7 and KA8 Legends were powered by 3.2-litre V6 petrol engine that were mated to four-speed automatic transmissions.

C32A engine

The longitudinally-mounted 3.2-litre C32A engine had an aluminium alloy block and cylinder head, a single overhead camshaft (SOHC), four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 9.0:1.

Dimensions

The KA7 Legend coupe was 4885 mm long, 1810 mm wide, 1370 mm tall and had a 2830 mm long wheelbase; the KA8 Legend sedan, however, was 65 mm longer (at 4950 mm), 40 mm taller (1410 mm) and had an 80 mm longer wheelbase (2910 mm).

Suspension

The KA7/KA8 Legend had independent suspension front and rear with double wishbones, coil springs and stabiliser bars.

Safety equipment

Standard safety equipment for the KA7 and KA8 Legends included a driver’s airbag and ABS. From January 1993, a front passenger airbag was fitted as standard.

Standard features for the KA7 and KA8 Legends included alloy wheels (15-inch alloys with 205/60 R16 91V tyres for the sedan and 16-inch alloys with 215/60 R16 95H tyres for the coupe), a six speaker sound system with a CD player, climate control air conditioning, power adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, cruise control, front fog lights, remote central locking, power windows and heated mirrors, driver’s seat memory settings, a power sunroof, driver and passenger vanity mirrors, woodgrain interior trim and an alarm system.
