Review: Ssangyong C100.I Actyon (2007-08)

Overview

Released in March 2007, the C100 Series I (C100.I) Actyon was an all-wheel drive SUV. Manufactured in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, the Actyon was available with either a 2.3-litre petrol engine (the A230 variants) or a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine (the A200 XDi). Beyond the engines, the C100.I Actyon was available in Standard and Limited editions. 

Engines

Of the engines,

• the 2.3-litre petrol engine had double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 10.4:1; and,
• the 2.0-litre diesel engine had common-rail injection, a variable geometry turbocharger, double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 17.5:1.

Dimensions and suspension

The Actyon was 4455 mm long, 1880 mm wide, 1745 mm tall and had a 2740 mm long wheelbase. Furthermore, the Actyon had double wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension.

AWD system

In normal conditions, the C100 Actyon was primarily driven by its rear wheels, with torque redirected to the front axle if the rear wheels lost traction. However, the Actyon also featured selectable two- and all-wheel drive modes which the driver could engage at speeds of up to 75 km/h. Furthermore, the centre differential could be locked to provide a 50:50 front:rear torque split for low-speed use.

Safety equipment

Standard safety equipment for the C100.I Actyon included dual front airbags, ABS, electronic brake force distribution and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters. The Limited editions were further equipped with front side airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, rollover stability control and hill decent control.

Features

Standard features for the C100.I Actyon included 18-inch alloy wheels with 255/60 R18 tyres, a six speaker sound system with a CD player, air conditioning, front and rear fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, rear parking sensors, remote central locking, power windows and mirrors, a tilt adjustable steering wheel, 12 volt power outlets, trip computer and an immobiliser; automatic models were also fitted with cruise control.

The Actyon Limited was further equipped with climate control air conditioning, leather seats, power adjustable and heated front seats, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, sunroof, retracting door mirrors and an anti-glare rear view mirror.

Review: Ssangyong C100.II Actyon (2008-11)

Overview

Released in February 2008, the C100 Series II (C100.II) Actyon introduced a revised range as the A230 was discontinued. Initially, the editions were also discontinued as the A200 XDi was offered in a single, unnamed variant; in February 2009, however, the SPR edition was released.

Safety equipment and features

Compared to its predecessor, the entry-level A200 XDi was similarly equipped to the A200 XDi Standard. Compared to the C100.I Limited, the C100.II SPR added front side airbags and full-length curtain airbags.
