Overview
Released in Australia in February 2015, the Suzuki Celerio was a light, five-door hatchback. Manufactured in Manesar, India, the front-wheel drive Celerio was powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that was mated to either a five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT).
K10B engine
The 1.0-litre K10B three-cylinder had an aluminium block and cylinder head, double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing and a compression ratio of 11.0:1.
Over the combined ADR 81/02 test cycle, fuel consumption was 4.7 and 4.8 litres per 100 km for the manual and CVT models, respectively.
Dimensions
Compared to the Suzuki Alto which it replaced, the Celerio was 100 mm longer (at 3600 mm), the same width (1600 mm), 70 mm taller (1540 mm) and had a 65 mm longer wheelbase (2425 mm); kerb weights were 830 kg and 860 kg for the manual and CVT models, respectively.
Cargo capacity for the Celerio was 254 litres with the rear seats in position, though this increased to 726 litres when folded (VDA method).
Steering and suspension
The Celerio had electric power-assisted steering, MacPherson strut front suspension and a coupled torsion beam rear axle.

Safety equipment
Standard safety equipment for the Australian-delivered Celerio included dual front airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length curtain airbags (i.e. for front and rear occupants), ABS, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters.
Euro NCAP testing
In Euro NCAP testing , a Suzuki Celerio that was not fitted with curtain airbags (unlike Australian-delivered models) received a three star safety rating which included a 61 per cent adult occupant protection rating and a 74 per cent child occupant protection rating. In the offset crash test, protection of the driver’s head, neck, thighs and feet were rated as good, though chest protection was rated as adequate and lower leg protection as adequate and marginal for the right and left legs, respectively. Maximum points were awarded in the side impact test, though a pole test was not conducted due to the absence of curtain airbags.
Under ANCAP’s methodology , this testing resulted in a four star adult occupant protection rating with a score of 32.49 out of 37.
Features
Standard features for the Suzuki Celerio included 14-inch steel wheels with 165/65 R14 tyres, a four speaker sound system with a CD player, MP3-compatibility and USB input, Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, air conditioning, fabric seat upholstery, 60:40 split and folding rear seats, remote central locking, power windows, a tilt adjustable steering wheel, 12 volt power socket and an immobiliser.
