2020 Kia MQ4 Sorento: potential fuel leak and fire hazard #1

In December 2020, recall campaign 201120 was issued for 2020 Kia MQ4 Sorento vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, a fuel leak may occur from the low-pressure fuel line hose clamp. If this occurred, a fire could occur in the engine compartment – this posed a risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users, and a risk to property. 2021 Kia MQ4 Sorento: damaged fuel supply pipe could leak fuel

In June 2021, recall campaign 211056 was issued for 2021 Kia MQ4 Sorento vehicles. During manufacturing, the fuel supply pipe may have been damaged and this could result in a fuel leak. A fuel leak could cause an engine compartment fire which could cause increase the risk of a collision, injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users. In April 2022, recall campaign 221003 was issued for 2020 Kia MQ4 Sorento vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, a fuel leak may occur from the low-pressure fuel line hose clamp. If this occurred, a fire could occur in the engine compartment – this posed a risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users, and a risk to property. 2020-22 Kia MQ4 Sorento vehicles: potential Transmission Electric Oil Pump failure

In January 2023, recall campaign 221135 was issued for 2020-22 Kia MQ4 Sorento vehicles. Due to variations in production, a crack could develop in the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) of the Transmission Electric Oil Pump (EOP) which could cause the EOL to fail. If this occurred, hydraulic pressure would be lost and the vehicle may lose drive, thereby increasing the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. 2022 Kia MQ4 Sorento and Sorento PHEV: turn indicators may not illuminate

In August 2023, recall campaign 231070 was issued for 2022 Kia MQ4 Sorento and Sorento PHEV vehicles. Due to a software issue, the turn indicators may not illuminate as intended. If this occurred, other road users may be unaware that the Sorento driver is turning or intends to turn. This increased the risk of a collision to vehicle occupants and other road users. 2020-22 Kia MQ4 Sorento HEV and PHEV: seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap and metal fragments

In September 2023, recall campaign 231073 was issued for 2020-22 Kia MQ4 Sorento HEV and PHEV vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap may fracture when deployed. If this occurred, metal fragments could be propelled at high speed towards vehicle occupants and cause serious injury. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005780.

2023 Kia MQ4 PE Sorento: incorrect fuel consumption and emissions data on label

In February 2024, recall campaign 241023 was issued for 2023 Kia MQ4 PE Sorento vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, incorrect fuel consumption and emissions data was printed on the fuel consumption label. As such, the vehicles did not comply with Australian Design Rule 81/02 – Fuel Consumption Labelling for Light Vehicles. There was no safety hazard associated with this recall.
