Recalls are issued for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Manufacturers or importers seek to inform the original buyer if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. However, manufacturers or importers may not have the contact details of subsequent owners. Please note that the recalls below are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Recalls: Genesis JK1 GV70

2021-24 Genesis JK1 GV70: seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap and metal fragments

In June 2023, recall campaign 31D015 was issued for 2021-24 Genesis JK1 GV70 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap may fracture when deployed in the event of a collision. If the seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap fractured, metal fragments may be propelled at high speed towards the vehicle occupants – these could cause serious injury. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005715.

2022-24 Genesis JK1 GV70: ICCU software, battery drainage and potential loss of power

In April 2024, recall campaign 41D034 was issued for 2022-24 Genesis JK1 GV70 vehicles. Due to a software issue in the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), the auxiliary 12 volt battery may not charge as intended – this could cause battery drainage and a loss of motive power. If a loss of motive power occurred whilst driving, there would be an increased risk of a collision and injury for both vehicle occupants and other road users. For this recall, a Genesis Motor Australia dealership was to update the ICCU software. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005943.

2021-22 Genesis JK1 GV70: fuel pump impeller could deform and interrupt fuel supply

In August 2024, recall campaign 41D073 was issued for 2021-22 Genesis JK1 GV70 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel pump impeller may deform under certain conditions, interrupting the fuel supply. If this occurred, the engine could stall and the vehicle would experience a sudden loss of motive power. If this occurred whilst driving, the risk of a collision and injury to both vehicle occupants and other road users would be increased. For this recall, a Genesis Motor Australia dealer was to inspect and replace the fuel pump impeller. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006055.
