Released in August 2001, the Holden VX Series II (VX.II) Calawas introduced Holden’s ‘Control Link’ independent rear suspension, with a new rear cross member, revised rear control arm assemblies and toe-control links; these changes led to improved tyre wear and safer handling on uneven surfaces. The Holden VX.II Calawas could be identified by its grille inserts with diagonal crosshatching and new rear badges. Inside, the centre console and instrument fascia were finished in metallic silver (replacing the woodgrain trim) and there were new stalk controls for the indicator, wiper and cruise control functions.
