Released in April 2013, the Honda ZF1 Series II (ZF1.II) CR-Z introduced lithium-ion batteries, mechanical upgrades and a ‘Plus Sport’ power boost system. Furthermore, power from the electric motor increased from 10kW to 15kW, while the 1.5-litre petrol engine benefited from changes to the variable valve timing system and Engine Control Unit (ECU), an anti-vibration knock sensor was introduced and the crankshaft material was upgraded. The Honda ZF1.II CR-Z range was simplified as the Sport and Luxury variants were replaced by a single, unnamed variant. The ZF1.II CR-Z could be identified by its new front bumper and grille, blue-accented LED tail-lights, aerodynamic rear diffuser, alloy wheels and new colours. Inside, there were new LED lights, white stitching and larger door casings for improved cabin storage.
