Released in October 2001, the Hyundai Elantra LaVita was a small, five-seat people mover. Manufactured in Ulsan, South Korea, the front-wheel drive Elantra LaVita was powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that was mated to either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. The 1.8-litre G4GM ‘Beta’ petrol engine had a cast iron block, alloy cylinder head, double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 10.1:1.
