Released in Australia in October 1989, the Maserati Mk.I 430 was a rear-wheel drive, luxury sedan. Manufactured in Modena, Italy, the 430 was powered by a 2.8-litre V6 petrol engine with two IHI turbochargers and air-to-air intercoolers, three valves per cylinder and twin overhead camshafts. Released in 1992, the Maserati Mk.II 430 could be identified by its slimmer headlights, wider front grille, new bumpers and sills, seven-spoke alloy wheels and spoilers on the boot lid and at the base of the windscreen. Furthermore, the range was expanded with the introduction of the Maserati 430 4v, which was fitted with a more powerful 2.8-litre twin-turbo engine with four valves per cylinder; the 430 4v was also fitted with active electronic damping as standard.
