Released in Australia in October 1993, the Maserati Mk.2 Series I (Mk.2-I) Ghibli was a four-seat coupe. Manufactured in Modena, Italy, the Ghibli was powered by a 2.8-litre twin turbocharged V6 petrol engine with double overhead camshafts per cylinder bank and four valves per cylinder. While the Ghibli was initially available with a five-speed manual transmission, a four-speed automatic transmission was introduced in 1994.
