Released in October 2001, the Peugeot Phase I 607 was a large, front-wheel drive sedan. Released in July 2005, the Peugeot Phase II 607 introduced a more powerful engine and six-speed automatic transmission. Modifications to the 2.9-litre petrol V6 resulted in minor peak power and torque increases (3kW and 5Nm, respectively). The Peugeot Phase II 607 could be identified by its revised front end which included body-coloured bumpers, circular fog lights and a single chrome strip which across the lower grille.
