Released in October 2011, the Volkswagen 5N Series II (5N.II) Tiguan introduced a revised range, updated styling and fuel-saving technologies. The range was expanded with the front-wheel drive 118TSI variant, while the 125TSI and 147TSI variants became the 132TSI and 155TSI, respectively. The Volkswagen 5N.II Tiguan could be identified by its revised new grille, headlights and L-shaped tail-lights, front bumper with a trapezoidal lower air intake opening and fog lights. significantly, both the 118TSI and 103TDI featured ‘idle stop’ (enabling the engine to shut down when the vehicle was stationary) and brake energy regeneration.
