Review: Daihatsu L880 Copen (2003-06)

Overview

Released in October 2003, the Daihatsu L880 Copen was a two-seat convertible with a folding hard-top roof. Manufactured in Japan, the front wheel drive Copen was powered by a 659 cc turbocharged JB-DET three-cylinder petrol engine that was mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The Copen was 3395 mm long, 1475 mm wide, 1260 mm tall and had a 2230 mm long wheelbase. Furthermore, the Copen had MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear axle with trailing arms.

Safety equipment

Standard safety equipment for the Daihatsu Copen included dual front airbags, ABS, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters.

Features

Standard features for the Daihatsu Copen included 15-inch alloy wheels, a two speaker sound system with MP3-compatibility and a CD player, air conditioning, front fog lights, remote central locking, power windows and mirrors, a tilt and reach adjustable steering wheel and an immobiliser.

Leather seats were available as an option.
