Recalls: Alpine XEF A110

Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Recalls: Alpine XEF A110

2018-19 Alpine XEF A110 with sport exhaust: exhaust valve wiring

In November 2019, recall campaign 0D17 was issued for Alpine XEF A110 vehicles that were equipped with the sports exhaust (LIECH1 criteria) available for sale in Australia from 1 January 2018 to 27 February 2019. The exhaust valve wiring may not have been adequately mounted under the vehicle and could come into contact with the exhaust. The wiring may melt the duct and then melt the wiring – this may short-circuit the exhaust flap wiring. If the defect occurred, the vehicle may switch into limp home mode, be unable to start or cease operating while driving – these possibilities increase the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. To fix, repairs were to be made to the wiring with a preventative wiring repair kit. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17929.

2018-19 Alpine XEF A110 with sports exhaust: engine failure and loss of accessories

In November 2019, recall campaign 0D60 was issued for Alpine XEF A110 vehicles equipped with the sports exhaust (LIECH1 criteria) that were available for sale in Australia from 1 January 2018 to 27 February 2019. In these vehicles, oil pressure solenoid programming was not compliant with the required specification and this could result in decreased oil pressure. If there was a decrease in oil pressure, there could be engine failure, heavier steering, loss of auxiliaries and/or much greater braking effort required – these posed a risk of collision and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. To fix, the injection computer was to be re-programmed, engine oil pressure was to be checked and the solenoid valve was to be replaced (where required). For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17923.

2018-19 Alpine XEF A110: front trunk lid lock screws

In November 2019, recall campaign 0D3Q was issued for Alpine XEF A110 vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 1 January 2018 to 27 February 2019. In these vehicles, the front trunk lid lock screws may not have been tightened to the required specification. If the screws loosened, there may be difficulty closing the front trunk lid, noise distractions in the front trunk while driving and, in the worst case, the front trunk lid may open while driving – this could obscure the driver’s view. These possibilities increased the risk of a collision and injury to vehicle occupants or other road users. To fix, the front trunk lid lock screw was to be tightened to the required specification. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17921.
