Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

2016-17 Aston Martin DB11: tyre pressure monitoring system incorrectly calibrated

In July 2017, a recall was issued for Aston Martin DB11 vehicles that were manufactured from October 2016 to June 2017. In these vehicles, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) was calibrated incorrectly and may therefore not illuminate the low tyre pressure warning at the minimum activation pressure. For the VINs of the recalled Aston Martin DB11 vehicles, please see PRA 2017/16190.

2016-18 Aston Martin DB11 V8 and V12 Coupe: inadvertent airbag deployment

In January 2018, a recall was issued for Aston Martin DB11 V8 and V12 Coupes that were available for sale from 31 August 2016 to 9 January 2018. If there was an electrostatic discharge (ESD) combined with a damaged steering column module clock spring and insufficient grounding of the upper steering column, the driver’s airbag may deploy. The driver would be alerted to a potential fault by illumination of the airbag warning light in the instrument cluster and an additional warning message. If the airbag deployed while the vehicle was being driven, it could injure the driver and increase the risk of a collision. For the VINs of the recalled Aston Martin DB11 vehicles, please see PRA 2018/16551.
