Pre-2017 Audi 8S TT Roadster: Takata airbag recall

In September 2018, recall campaign 69S8 was issued for Audi 8S TT Roadsters that were available for sale in Australia prior to 31 December 2017. Due to high temperatures and humidity, the airbag inflator propellant in the driver’s airbag could degrade over time. In the event of a collision which triggered the airbag, excessive internal pressure could cause the metal airbag inflator housing to explode or rupture, projecting metal fragments through the airbag cushion towards vehicle occupants – these metal fragments posed a risk of serious injury or fatality. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2018/17035.

2018-19 Audi 8S.II TT Roadster quattro: bracket could damage fuel tank

In August 2020, recall campaign 20BX was issued for Audi 8S.II TT Roadster quattro vehicles that were manufactured prior to May 2019. If the vehicle was involved in a collision, a bracket fitted on the vehicle body could collide with fuel tank and damage the fuel tank. If the fuel tank was damaged, fuel could leak and if the fuel came into contact with a hot surface, it could ignite – this posed a risk of serious injury and death to vehicle occupants, road users and bystanders. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2020/18401.
