Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Recalls: Audi C4 A6

  • In October 1997 and February, a recalls were issued for 1995 and 1996 Audi C4 A6 models due to static electricity in the steering wheel potentially causing the driver’s side airbag to deploy inadvertently ((PRA 1997/3354, PRA 1998/3487).
  • In August 1998, a recall was issued for Audi C4 A6 vehicles fitted with 2.8-litre V6 petrol engines due to the engine misfiring potentially causing damage to the air grid in the air mass meter – this could cause the grid to detach and jam the throttle valve (PRA 1998/3629).

Problems and faults: Audi C4 A6

  • Driving with less than 12 litres of fuel in the tank may cause the malfunction indicator to illuminate due to a lean misfire.
  • The fuel gauge may provide inaccurate readings due to a loose earth wire at the left taillight.
