  • In August 1996, a recall was issued for Audi D1 V8 vehicles due to a possible malfunction in the cruise control linkage due to a plastic bush becoming brittle (PRA 1996/2897).

Problems and faults: Audi D1 V8

  • A leak in the connector on the automatic transmission’s final-drive housing may cause the engine to stall when coming to rest.
  • The ABS may operate intermittently at speeds below 30 km/h due to weak signals from the wheel speed sensors – the sensors must be replaced.
  • The power locks for the doors and fuel door may fail because the vacuum hoses become loose – this requires new clamps and/or longer hoses to be fitted.
