Recalls: Bentley Turbo R
Overview
Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.
Recalls: Bentley Turbo R
- In April 1989, a recall was issued for Turbo R vehicles that were manufactured from August 1985 to March 1989. In these vehicles, the high-mounted rear stop light switch that was connected to the brake pedal may fail prematurely, causing the light to remain on continuously or not work at all. To fix, an improved stop lamp switch was installed (PRA 1989/0685).
- In May 1989, a recall was issued for Turbo R vehicles. In these vehicles, sudden acceleration may cause the throttle to foul, causing the motor to continue revving (PRA 1989/0703).
- In March 1990, a recall was issued for 1990 model year Bentley Turbo R vehicles. In these vehicles, the rear window demister fuse could exceed its rated capacity – this could cause the fuse to blow and render the main stop lamps inoperative. To fix, an additional fuse circuit to handle the main brake lights was installed (PRA 1990/0942).
- In April 1990, a recall was issued for Turbo R vehicles that were manufactured between August 1988 and March 1990. In these vehicles, the engine oil cooler pipe may come into contact with the hydraulic brake pipe, resulting in brake failure (PRA 1990/0961).
