Chrysler Crossfire Roadster: Transmission Fluid Leaks

In May 2005, Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 21-002-05 REV A was issued for 2004-05 Chrysler Crossfire Coupe vehicles with the NAG1 automatic transmission (sales code DGJ or DGU. In these vehicles, automatic transmission fluid (ATF) may weep or leak from the right front corner of the transmission oil pan due to failed O-rings at the electrical connector.

Despite the production years given above, it is understood that later models were also affected. Subsequent to the TSB being issued, it is recommended that the plug adapter be replaced in addition to the O-rings.

Chrysler Crossfire Roadster: Problems and faults

  • The Crossfire Roadster’s convertible roof may stop working if the driver doesn’t allow it to fully open or fully close because the control module ‘forgets’ the roof’s position unless the switches are cycled.
  • If the convertible roof is hard to close, new pivot bolts in the frame may be required.
  • In a small number of early models, the convertible roof would not work because of a broken boot latch.
  • The batteries in the remote keyless entry transmitter batteries may drain prematurely because a piece of plastic may keeps the panic button depressed.
  • The transmission solenoid/pressure switch may leak fluid, causing the ‘check engine’ light to illuminate and require the solenoid to be replaced.
