Recalls: Citroen Mk.2 C5
Overview
Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.
Recalls: Citroen Mk.2 C5
- In January 2009, a recall was issued for Citroen Mk.2 C5 vehicles due to vehicles being fitted with a non-conforming engine relay unit (PRA 2009/10557).
- In November 2009, a recall was issued for Citroen Mk.2 C5 vehicles due to the windscreen side trim potentially coming loose (PRA 2009/11250).
- In December 2009, this recall was issued for the Citroen C5 wagon or ‘Tourer’ models (PRA 2009/11296). In November 2009, a recall was issued due to a condition in which communication was lost from the steering wheel mounted controls (PRA 2009/11251). In December 2009, this recall was issued for the Tourer models (PRA 2009/11291).
- In November 2009, a recall was issued for Citroen Mk.2 C5 vehicles fitted with the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel DW10 engine due to poor running. For these models, the problem was addressed by having new software installed to the engine’s ECU (PRA 2009/11252). In December 2009, this recall was issued for the Tourer models (PRA 2009/11304).
- In December 2009, recalls were issued for the Citroen C5 Tourer models due to loose fitment of the tailgate strut ball joints, causing the tailgate to rattle (PRA 2009/11290 and PRA 2009/11303).
- In December 2009, a recall was issued for the Citroen C5 Tourer models due to loose fitment of the tailgate spoiler, potentially causing it to fall off (PRA 2009/11297).
- In January 2011, a recall was issued for Citroen Mk.2 C5 vehicles due to a defect in the driver’s side windscreen wiper motor which, over time, could cause the windscreen wiper mechanism not to work. - In January 2011, a recall was issued for Citroen Mk.2 C5 vehicles due to rare cases in which the braking assistance circuit vacuum pump valve may have problems operating. For the list of affected vehicles, please seePRA 2011/12304.
- In July 2011, a recall was issued for Citroen Mk.2 C5 vehicles fitted with the 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine. In some of these models, harsh and prolonged braking could risk an incorrect interpretation of engine oil level information, causing stalling and a loss of control.
