Recalls: Daewoo Lanos

Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Recalls: Daewoo Lanos

  • In July 2002, a recall was issued for certain Daewoo Lanos vehicles fitted with alloy wheels. For these vehicles, the alloy rims did not seat correctly which may result in the wheel loosening and potentially coming off (PRA 2002/5518).
  • In July 2002, a recall was issued for Daewoo Lanos vehicles fitted with a front passenger airbag due to the airbag failing an impact test (PRA 2002/5523).
  • In February 2003, a recall was issued for Daewoo Lanos vehicles supplied in Australia from 1997 to November 2002. For these vehicles, the vehicle jacks had warning labels which do not comply with the vehicle jack safety standard AS/NZ 2693:1993 – Vehicle Jacks (PRA 2003/5957).

Problems and faults: Daewoo Lanos

  • Various brake problems have been reported, including partial hydraulic failures, inoperative ABS and short brake pad life.
  • Incorrect fuel gauge readings may be due to a defective resistor card in the fuel sender.
  • Low levels of light from headlights may be due to the wiring connector having been damaged by heat.
