Recalls: Daewoo Matiz hatch

  • In February 2003, a recall was issued for Daewoo Matiz hatches supplied in Australia from 1997 to November 2002. For these vehicles, the vehicle jacks had warning labels which do not comply with the vehicle jack safety standard AS/NZ 2693:1993 – Vehicle Jacks (PRA 2003/5957).

Problems and faults: Daewoo Matiz hatch

  • Head gaskets are susceptible to overheating as the plastic heater inlet manifolds warp and lose coolant.
  • The timing belt and tensioner pulley require replacement every 60,000km or four years, whichever comes first.
  • Problems starting the vehicle may be due to the alternator failing.
  • The hatchback is susceptible to corrosion.
