Recalls: Ford Mk.5 Fiesta
Overview
Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the number of recalls should not be taken as an indicator of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.
Recalls: Ford Mk.5 Fiesta
- In July and August 2007, recalls were issued for Ford WQ Fiesta models manufactured from 12 October 2006 to 24 October 2006 due to possible damage to the steering column upper universal joint sustained during the shipping process to the vehicle production plant (PRA 2007/9409, PRA 2007/9443).
- In December 2007, a recall was issued for 2007 model year Ford WQ Fiesta models due to the engine having been with a front end accessory drive belt which could delaminate, resulting in premature failure (PRA 2007/9704). In March 2008, this recall was re-issued for models manufactured from 21 September 2007 to 5 November 2007 (PRA 2008/9909).

Problems and faults: Ford Mk.5 Fiesta
- Apparent clutch failure may be due to a spring washer on the shaft behind the clutch pedal coming loose.
- The Fiesta’s front coil springs were susceptible to failure.
- Fluid from windscreen washer pipes can leak onto the engine block – this could lead to the spark plugs corroding if the car is not driven often.
- Water may leak into the front passenger foot well due to the pollen filter not being fitted correctly.
- Water may accumulate in the front doors if the drain holes were not properly manufactured.
