Recalls: Holden RG Colorado 7
2012-14 Holden RG Colorado 7: third row seatbelts
In October 2014, a recall was issued for Holden Colorado 7 vehicles that were manufactured from 24 January 2012 to 24 September 2014. In these vehicles, the retractor lock sensing mechanism inside the third row seatbelts may not satisfy the Australian Design Rules relating to the locking of the safety belt when the vehicle is parked on an incline. When the vehicle is positioned at a certain angle, allowing the retractor sensing mechanism to sit between 9 and 12 degrees, the seatbelt may lock and prevent the passenger in the third row from fastening the seatbelt. The recalled Colorado 7 vehicles had VINs in the range MMU 156MH0DH 600035 to MMU 156MK0FH 602504 (PRA 2014/14370).
2013-15 Holden RG Colorado 7: alternator electrical cable
In April 2015, a recall was issued for Holden RG Colorado 7 vehicles that were manufactured from 4 September 2013 to 21 January 2015. In these vehicles, the alternator B+ electrical cable may have been assembled in contact with a steel bracket at the battery tray. Under certain driving conditions the insulation on the cable may wear – this could cause an electrical short circuit between the cable and the brake. In turn, the short circuit could cause the cable insulation to melt or catch fire, posing a risk to the vehicle occupants and a potential accident hazard to other road users. The recalled vehicles had VINs in the range MMU145DK0EH600244 to MMU156FK0FH616228 (PRA 2015/14657).
2015-16 Holden RG Colorado 7: second row seatbelts
In July 2016, a recall was issued for Holden RG Colorado 7 vehicles that were manufactured from 10 October 2015 to 1 June 2016. In these vehicles, the recliner mechanisms that were fitted to the second row (the 60 per cent side, with left and centre seats) may not lock correctly when the seat back was placed into the upright position. In the event that the recliner mechanisms did not lock correctly, the seat back may move in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury for the occupant. The recalled Holden RG Colorado 7 vehicles had VINs in the range Holden RG Colorado 7 vehicles (PRA 2016/15508).
2015 Holden Colorado 7: front seatbelt retractor
In September 2016, a recall was issued for Holden RG Colorado 7 vehicles that were manufactured from 12 January 2015 to 18 March 2015. In these vehicles, the bolt which held the front seatbelt retractor into the body of the vehicle may not have been correctly tightened during manufacture. In the event of a collision, the seatbelt may not restrain the occupant as intended, thereby increasing the risk of an injury. The recalled Holden RG Colorado 7 vehicles had VINs in the range MMU145DK0FH615256 to MMU148LK0FH624321 (PRA 2016/15618).
Holden RG Colorado 7: label to be fitted to vehicle jack
In June 2017, a recall was issued for Holden RG Colorado 7 vehicles because certain vehicle jacks that were sold by Holden Service Parts Organisation (HSPO) as service replacements were not fitted with the required AS/NZ2693 label; this label was necessary to describe the safe and correct usage of the jack. Furthermore, incorrect use of the vehicle jack could result in serious injury. As part of the recall, a label was to be fitted to the vehicle jack assembly (PRA 2017/16099).
