Recalls: Honda CR6 Accord Hybrid
Overview
Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Recalls: Honda Accord Hybrid
In September 2015, a recall was issued for ‘2015 model year’ Honda Accord Hybrid vehicles. Due to electrical interference, these vehicles may suddenly switch to fail-safe EV mode when cruising at highway speeds, causing the internal combustion engine to shut off; visual and audible warnings would also be issued. As a result of the internal combustion engine shutting down, there would be a sudden loss of drive power, though the electric motor would continue to provide power steering and braking. The Accord Hybrid’s maximum speed with the electric motor would be around 60 km/h though, in fail-safe EV mode, the vehicle would only be able to travel for a short period of time before the battery discharged (PRA 2015/14930). The recalled Honda Accord Hybrid vehicles had VINs in the following ranges:
- MRHCR6630FP020005 to MRHCR6630FP020011;
- MRHCR6630FP020013 to MRHCR6630FP020019;
- MRHCR6630FP020021 to MRHCR6630FP020022; and,
- MRHCR6630FP020024 to MRHCR6630FP020060.
