1999-00 Hyundai LC Accent: windscreen wiper linkage could separate from motor arm
Hyundai initiated a service campaign for Hyundai LC Accent vehicles that were manufactured from 11 November 1999 to 15 January 2000. In these vehicles, insufficient lubricant between the windscreen wiper motor arm and wiper motor link bush could cause the rubber dust cover on the motor arm to stick – this, in turn, could cause the wiper motor to become inoperative due to separation of the wiper motor linkage from the wiper motor arm. For affected vehicles,
- The wiper motor link bush was to be greased;
- The rubber dust cover was to be replaced; and,
- The wiper linkage was also to be replaced.
Problems and faults: Hyundai LC Accent
- If the Hyundai LC Accent’s starter cranks but the engine does not start, the overdrive-switch wire may have short-circuited.
- If the Hyundai Accent’s ‘check engine’ light illuminates and a diagnostic code indicates a lean fuel mixture, the mass-airflow sensor likely requires replacement.
- If the transmission sticks in third gear, shifts poorly, or has a harsh shift from first to second gear, then the connectors may be corroded or the wiring harness, transmission-fluid temperature sensor or pulse generator may have failed and require replacement.
- If the transmission does not shift out of ‘park’, this may be due the shift-lock solenoid or brake light fuse having failed.
