2016 Hyundai Tucson: secondary bonnet safety latch

In July 2016, a recall was issued for Hyundai TL and TLe Tucson vehicles because the bonnet’s secondary safety latch could become unlatched when the vehicle was in motion. In certain conditions, the bonnet could therefore lift suddenly and block the driver’s view of the road ahead. The recalled Hyundai Tucson vehicles had VINs in the following ranges (PRA 2016/15504):

  • Hyundai TL Tucson: KMHJ*81***U000324 ~ KMHJ*81***U208048; and,
  • Hyundai TLe Tucson: TMAJ3****GJ000050 ~ TMAJ3****GJ168155.

2014-20 Hyundai TL Tucson: ABS module short circuit

In February 2021, recall campaign 01D072 was issued for Hyundai TL Tucson vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 1 November 2014 to 30 November 2020. Due to a manufacturing error, an electronic control circuit board in the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) module could short circuit when the components were exposed to moisture. An electrical short circuit posed a risk of an engine compartment fire, even when the vehicle was turned off, since the circuit was constantly powered. This condition increased the risk of a collision or injury to vehicle occupants, road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property. To fix, a relay kit was to be installed on the circuit board to prevent any power surge and eliminate the risk of fire. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2021/18794.
