Recalls: Hyundai XG300 Grandeur
Overview
Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.
Recalls: Hyundai XG300 Grandeur
- In September 2000, a recall was issued for Hyundai Grandeur models produced from 14 July 1999 to 14 August 2000 due to water potentially entering the ABS control module via the ABS ground wire in the engine compartment; this could disable the ABS (PRA 2000/4457).
- In April 2002, a recall was issued for Hyundai XG300 Grandeur vehicles due to the side airbag warning light inadvertently becoming activated as a result of problems with wiring connectors (PRA 2002/5289).
- In May 2005, a recall was issued for Hyundai XG300 Grandeur vehicles due to the left and right rear brake pipes potentially being connected to the ABS hydraulic unit in reverse sequence. As a result, the secondary brake tube between the master cylinder and the ABS hydraulic unit could come into contact with the power steering suction hose (PRA 2005/7715).

Problems and faults: Hyundai XG300 Grandeur
- Excessive noise from the Hyundai Grandeur’s 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine may be due to the engine’s hydraulic lash adjusters; although not a problem, quieter replacements were subsequently available with larger oil holes.
- While the gearshift from park to reverse or drive is harsh in many models, an excessively harsh gearshift – including other gears – may require the transmission control module to be replaced.
- The transmission may not shift in ‘Drive’ mode or upshift/downshift in ‘Sport’ mode due to a faulty switch in the console shifter housing.
