Recalls: Jaguar X540 E-Pace

Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Recalls: Jaguar E-Pace

2018-19 model year Jaguar E-Pace: potential fuel leak

In March 2018, a recall was issued for 2018-19 model year Jaguar E-Pace vehicles that had 2.0-litre turbocharged ‘Ingenium’ petrol engines. In these vehicles, the engine-mounted fuel rails may not have been manufactured correctly – this could cause fuel vapour and liquid fuel leaks within the engine bay. If this occurred, vehicle occupants may notice a fuel odour and, if the bonnet was lifted, liquid fuel could be visible. If the leaking fuel came into contact with a hot surface in the engine bay, the fuel could ignite and start an under-bonnet fire. For the VIN ranges of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2018/16679.

2018 Jaguar X540 E-Pace: carbon dioxide emissions

In March 2019, recall campaign H185 was issued for Jaguar X540 E-Pace vehicles that were available for sale prior to 5 July 2018. During testing, these vehicles demonstrated a greater than expected variation in carbon dioxide emissions such that they may not meet the required emissions standards. To fix, the vehicles were to receive a software update. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17408.

2020-21 Jaguar X540 E-Pace: driver’s seatbelt pre-tensioner may not work

In May 2021, recall campaign H342 was issued for Jaguar X540 E-Pace vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 16 June 2020 to 24 February 2021. In these vehicles, the wiring harness for the restraints control module (RCM) was linked to the wrong seatbelt buckle. As a result, the driver’s seatbelt pre-tensioner may not work unless the front passenger seat was occupied. In the event of a collision, this increased the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2021/18965.

2021 Jaguar X540 E-Pace: faulty locking mechanism in driver’s seat belt assembly

In July 2021, recall campaign H344 was issued for 2021 Jaguar X540 E-Pace vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the vehicle-sensitive locking mechanism in the seatbelt assembly for the driver’s seat may not lock as designed when the retractor body or vehicle was decelerated or tilted. In the event of a collision or hard braking, the driver’s seat belt may not operate correctly, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-001657.

2020-22 Jaguar X540 E-Pace: passenger airbag may tear during deployment

In May 2024, recall campaign H491 was issued for 2020-22 Jaguar X540 E-Pace vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the passenger airbag may tear during deployment. This could cause hot gases to escape from the airbag at high speed and provide insufficient protection to the passenger. If the airbag did not deploy as intended, there was an increased risk of injury to vehicle occupants. For this recall, the Jaguar dealer was to replace the passenger airbag and its associated components. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005955.
