2015-16 Kia JF Optima 2.4 GDi: loss of power
In November 2016, a recall was issued for Kia Optima vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 15 October 2015 to 23 April 2016. In these vehicles, the right front axle driveshaft may develop a crack in the area of the stub at the wheel end of the shaft. When moving from a stationary position, the crack could lead to a separation of the shaft, causing a loud noise. The vehicle would then lose motive power and, in some cases, this could lead to an accident. For the VINs of the recalled Kia Optima vehicles, please see PRA 2016/15755.
2018-19 Kia JF Optima: braking assist may fail
In August 2019, recall campaign 191064 was issued for Kia JF Optima vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 21 December 2018 to 2 August 2019. Due to an error in the Frontal Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) software, the braking assist function may fail when the vehicle approaches a stationary vehicle. if this occurred, the vehicle’s brakes may be less responsive and this increased the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17725.
