Recalls: Land Rover L551 Range Rover Evoque

Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Recalls: Land Rover L551 Range Rover Evoque

2018-19 Land Rover L551 Range Rover Evoque: windscreen washer jets

In September 2019, recall campaign N341 was issued for Land Rover L551 Range Rover Evoque vehicles that were available for sale from 5 October 2018 to 4 April 2019. In these vehicles, the windscreen wiper washer jets may become inoperative when driven in freezing conditions. If the windscreen washer jets became inoperative, this could impair visibility and increase the risk of a collision. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17795.

2018-20 Land Rover L551 Range Rover Evoque MHEV: DC/DC converter short circuit

In December 2020, recall campaign N503 was issued for Land Rover L551 Range Rover Evoque vehicles that had mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrains and were available for sale in Australia from 25 May 2018 to 2 October 2020. In these vehicles, an electrical overload in the 48V electrical system could cause a failure of the metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET). Failure of the MOSFET could cause an electrical cascade failure, causing the DC/DC converter to experience an electrical short where the 12V circuit shorts to ground. When the DC/DC converter experienced an electrical short to ground, the 12V electrical system would discharge – this would be indicated by a battery warning on the instrument cluster.

Vehicle occupants may notice a burning smell and/or smoke from the DC/DC converter vent into the passenger compartment. If there was sufficient oxygen, a vehicle fire could occur – this circumstance posed a risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. 2018-20 Land Rover L551 Range Rover Evoque: Dinamica seat trim

In January 2021, recall campaign N524 was issued for Land Rover L551 Range Rover Evoque vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 18 July 2018 to 14 July 2020. In these vehicles, the seat material used for front seats trimmed with ‘Dinamica’ cloth (a laminate bonded seat material) may burn faster than permitted. In the event of a fire in the vehicle, there was an increased risk of injury to vehicle occupants. To fix, the seat coverings for the front seats were to be replaced with a sewn bonded Dinamica material. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2020/18781.
