Recalls: Lexus Z100 LC 500
Overview
Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

2017 Lexus Z100 LC 500: high pressure fuel pumps
In February 2018, a recall was issued for Lexus Z100 LC 500 vehicles that were manufactured from 29 March 2017 to 4 December 2017. In these vehicles, the high pressure fuel pumps could sustain damage that could lead to abnormal noise and vibration. Over time, the fuel pumps could develop a fatigue crack that could expand and leak fuel. In the presence of an ignition source, the leaking fuel could cause a vehicle fire. The recalled Lexus Z100 LC 500 vehicles had VINs in the range JTH HP5AY # 0A000138 to JTH HP5AY # 0A004459 (PRA 2018/16613).
2017-18 Lexus Z100 LC 500h: ECU programming and potential shutdown
In September 2018, recall campaign LGG69 was issued for twenty-three Lexus Z100 LC 500h vehicles that were manufactured from March 2017 to July 2018. The electronic control unit (ECU) for these vehicles had improper programming such that if the accelerator pedal were depressed quickly, the transmission may not shift gears within the required time period. If this occurred, warning lights would illuminate and the hybrid system would shut down, causing a loss of motive power. This loss of motive power while driving would increase the risk of a collision for vehicle occupants and other road users. Once the vehicle had stopped, however, turning the ignition off and restarting the vehicle would enable it to be driven (though the warning lights would continue to be illuminated). For the VINs of the recalled Lexus Z100 LC 500h vehicles, please see PRA 2018/17028.
2017-19 Lexus Z100 LC 500 and LC 500h: low-pressure fuel pump may stop working
In April 2020, recall campaigns VGG17 and VGG05 were issued for Lexus Z100 LC 500 and LC 500h vehicles that were manufactured from July 2017 to June 2019. In these vehicles, the low-pressure fuel pump could stop operating – if this occurred, the engine may stall and the vehicle may not restart; alternatively, the engine may not run smoothly. Beyond this, warning lights and messages may be displayed on the instrument panel. To fix, the low-pressure fuel pump was to be replaced. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2020/18243.
