2012-14 Mahindra W8 XUV500: curtain airbag may not deploy

In February 2015, a recall was issued for Mahindra XUV500 vehicles that were available for sale from 12 June 2012 to 30 June 2014. In these vehicles, an intermittent fault code may inhibit deployment of a curtain airbag. If the airbag failed to deploy in the event of a collision, the risk of injury to occupants would be increased (PRA 2015/14654).

2018-19 Mahindra XUV500: vehicle may enter ‘limp home’ mode

In June 2019, recall campaign ER101 was issued for Mahindra XUV500 vehicles that were available for sale from 1 March 2018 to 31 March 2019. If the brake and accelerator pedals were pressed simultaneously while driving, the vehicle may go into ‘limp home mode’ whereby road speed and engine speed were restricted – this could increase the risk of a collision, posing a hazard to vehicle occupants and other road users. The engine, however, would not stall or stop. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17495.
