2018 Mazda KG CX-8 Diesel: engine may not restart

In August 2018, a recall was issued for Mazda KG CX-8 vehicles that had diesel engines and were available for sale in Australia from 24 April 2018 to 28 May 2018. In these vehicles, the engine may not restart after it had been switched off – this could render the vehicle immovable such that it would pose a hazard to vehicle occupants and other road users. To fix, a revised powertrain control module (PCM) calibration was to be installed. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2018/16896.
