2021-22 Peugeot 508 GT Fastback Plug-In Hybrid: battery could overheat or emit smoke

In May 2023, recall campaign MEGMEHMEJ was issued for 2021-22 Peugeot 508 GT Fastback Plug-In Hybrid vehicles. Due to a software program error, the Battery Management System software may cause the high voltage battery to overheat and/or emit smoke. If not unrepaired, this could result in a battery or vehicle fire whilst the vehicle was being recharged and/or in use. A vehicle fire increased the risk of injury to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005670.

2021-22 Peugeot 508 GT Fastback Plug-In Hybrid: protective wax omitted from battery reinforcing plate and/or cover

In May 2023, recall campaign MA5 was issued for 2021-22 Peugeot 508 GT Fastback Plug-In Hybrid vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, certain plug-in hybrid electric vehicles may not have had the high voltage battery reinforcing plate or battery cover coated with a protective wax. If water intruded, there was a risk of perforation or corrosion of the battery reinforcing plate/battery cover over the life of the vehicle. If not repaired, there was a risk that the perforation or corrosion could weaken either the battery reinforcing plate or battery cover, affecting the high voltage battery’s security. This could result in breakdown of the vehicle and/or potential for a battery or vehicle fire, posing a risk of injury to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005671.
