Recalls: Renault X82 Trafic

Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Renault X82 Trafic: improper deployment of passenger airbag

In May 2016, a recall was issued for Renault X82 Trafic vehicles because the passenger airbag mounting screws may be absent. As such, there was a risk of improper deployment of the passenger airbag which could increase the risk of injury in the event of a collision (PRA 2016/15387).

2015-16 Renault X82 Trafic: rear axle may uncouple

In February 2017, a recall was issued for Renault X82 Trafic vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 1 July 2015 to 21 January 2016. Due to a production error, the rear axle in these vehicles may have an insufficiently tightened Panhard Rod bolt. This could cause abnormal noise and tyre friction inside the wheel arch, which may be followed by the rear axle uncoupling from the body – this would cause unstable road holding and increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. The recalled Renault X82 Trafic vehicles had VINs in the range VF11FL112E0709587 to VF11FL118G0733943 (PRA 2017/15879).

2018 Renault X82 Trafic Van: parking brake may fail

In October 2019, recall campaign 0D21 was issued for Renault X82 Trafic vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 18 May 2018 to 13 September 2018. In these vehicles, the parking brake could fail because the parking brake cable was not manufactured to the required specifications. If the parking brake failed, the vehicle may roll away when parked – this posed a hazard to vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17906.

2015 Renault X82 Trafic: EGR pipe may crack

In March 2020, recall campaign 0CAZ was issued for Renault X82 Trafic vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 1 March 2015 to 31 December 2015. In these vehicles, the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) high pressure pipe may crack – this could cause the vehicle to stall, a loss of engine braking assistance and/or fuel leakage. These events increased the risk of a collision and injury to both vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2020/18224.

2019-20 Renault X82 Trafic: parking brake may fail

In April 2020, recall campaign 0D4U was issued for Renault X82 Trafic vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 1 June 2019 to 2 April 2020. In these vehicles, the parking brake callipers may not have been manufactured in accordance with specifications such that the parking brake could fail. If this occurred, the vehicle may not remain stationary when the parking brake was deployed, posing a hazard to persons in the area. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2020/18251.
