Recalls: Skoda Kodiaq
Overview
Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.
Recalls: Skoda Kodiaq
2017-18 model year Skoda Kodiaq: Takata driver’s airbag recall
In July 2018, a recall was issued for 2017-18 model year Skoda Kodiaq vehicles. In these vehicles, the Takata-supplied driver’s airbag contained propellant wafers that could degrade over time due to the absorption of moisture. If the vehicle was in a collision that triggered the airbag, excessive internal pressure could cause the metal airbag inflator housing to explode/rupture, such that metal fragments would be projected through the airbag material and into the cabin – these metal fragments posed a serious risk of injury or fatality. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2018/16909.
2018 model year Skoda Kodiaq: driver airbag may not fully inflate
In July 2019, recall campaign 69Y9 was issued for 2018 model year Skoda Kodiaq vehicles. In some instances, the front driver airbag may not inflate to its fully capacity fast enough in the event of a collision and this increased the risk of injury to the driver. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17652.
2018 model year Skoda Kodiaq: fixing nuts omitted from rear passenger seat
In July 2019, recall campaign 72J1 was issued for 2018 model year Skoda Kodiaq vehicles. In these vehicles, one or several fixing nuts may be missing from the individual rear passenger seat. If these fixing nuts were missing, the seat would not be secured and may not provide adequate protection in the event of a collision. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17653.
2022 Skoda NS7 Kodiaq: engine cover could touch the turbocharger
In April 2022, recall campaign 10H6 was issued for 2022 Skoda NS7 Kodiaq vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the engine compartment cover may become loose. If this occurred, the engine cover may move and touch the turbocharger, resulting in smouldering damage or an engine bay fire. An engine bay fire increased the risk of injury to vehicle occupants, bystanders and/or damage to property. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005419.
