2001-07 Ssangyong Chairman: steering wheel may lock straight ahead

In July 2020, recall campaign SR-2020005 was issued for Ssangyong Chairman vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 1 November 2001 to 30 August 2007. In these vehicles, the development of a crack in the steering lock housing could cause the steering wheel to lock into the straight ahead position when the key was turned. If this occurred, it may not be possible to steer the vehicle – this increased the risk of injury for vehicle occupants and other road users. To fix, the steering lock housing assembly was to be replaced. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2020/18365.
