Recalls: Suzuki MF Alto

Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Recalls: Suzuki MF Alto

  • In December 2009, a recall was issued for Suzuki MF Alto vehicles due to an inconsistent tolerance in the fuel pump seating area of the fuel tank. This could result in fuel leakage during refueling when the maximum volume of fuel was induced into the tank. The recalled vehicles were in the VIN range MA3GFC31S00151498 to MA3GF31S00203328 (PRA 2009/11286).
  • In April 2010, a recall was issued for certain Suzuki MF Alto vehicles in the VIN range MA3GFC31SOO151498 to MA3GFC31SOO273227. Due to a misarranged wiring harness, the stop lamp circuit and shift solenoid circuit may have their couplers interchanged when connected to the stop lamp switch. This could result in the stop lamp circuit receiving a lower than specified voltage and the shift solenoid circuit receiving a higher than specified voltage. This higher voltage – fed through the shift solenoid circuit contacts within the stop lamp switch – could cause the switch casing to melt and render the stop lamp inoperable (PRA 2010/11556).
  • In July 2013, a recall was issued for Suzuki Alto vehicles due to the risk that the heater blower motor may jam and cause the resistor fuse to overheat and cut-out; the overheated fuse could also result in burn damage to the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) unit. For further information, see PRA 2013/13674 and PRA 2013/13662.
