2019 Toyota E210 Corolla Hatch: back door wire harness

In April 2020, recall campaign VG221 was issued for Toyota E210 Corolla Hatch vehicles that were manufactured from 5 December 2019 to 17 December 2019. In these vehicles, the back door (rear hatch) contained a wire harness and connectors for electrical components. Damaged equipment was used during the production process to inspect the conductivity of the wire harness and the installed electrical components through a specific connector. In this condition, an oxide layer may develop on the surface of those terminals due to vehicle vibration and exposure to air over time, resulting in increased electrical resistance. This increased electrical resistance could cause the reversing lamps to become inoperative and this increased the risk of a collision. To fix, the back door wire harness was to be replaced. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2020/18295.
